Our Strategy

REASURE2 revolutionizes the management of pandemic risk by implementing fundamental changes in risk identification and management. Our transformative framework analyzes pandemics within the context of interconnected social, technical, and biological systems, employing forward-looking methods and cutting-edge tools to detect precursor signals and correlations. We embrace a comprehensive view of systemic risk, avoiding isolated approaches, and instead leverage diverse disciplinary expertise to holistically assess risk quantitatively and qualitatively. We incorporate experiential and local knowledge to understand the systemic impact of shocks on people’s lives. Through our interdisciplinary approach, we uncover connections and associations often overlooked, enhancing our understanding of the systemic nature of risk and vulnerability.

We work across country teams and jointly with community partners to assess the effectiveness as well as transferability and unintended or long-term effects of responses and interventions by government and other societal actors to COVID-19’s impacts and the lessons arising from them for recovery and renewal, at least in relation to the specific innovations we will develop with partner organizations and communities.

Our project development discussions have already led to a number of insights and opportunities for sharing methods, digital innovations, and data generation/dissemination approaches that are appropriate and accessible. By creating opportunities for young scholars from all the partner countries to collaborate and visit each other, we are promoting interdisciplinary and trans-border research collaborations. We believe our project involves outstanding, innovative and interdisciplinary research that contributes to the understanding and mitigation of complex societal effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
